Hello my claret and blue chums. I need to get a video from my phone onto a laptop. I have the technical skills of a small baby. Can anyone advise me on a simple method? Much appreciated

If the video contains compromising images of your wife, email it to me and I will do the technical stuff.
If not then I would seriously consider the knob/screen advice.

Glue the phone to your knob before wiping it across the screen, to cover more options.

Not sure about this, but if you have an apple account can the video not be uploaded to your iCloud account (if it hasn't already done so) and then downloaded to the laptop by logging in to this account on the internet?

Save it to iCloud then log into your Apple ID on your laptop and download it from there….

Try plugging the phone into a USB port on the laptop as if charging it.
The phone may ask for permission to send files to the connected device or you may need to manually select an option from a list (if it's more than about 18 months old). Newer phones generally second guess what the user is trying to do.

Mikes suggestion has failed as it’s a work laptop and doesn’t allow it.

Connect your phone to the same network (home WiFi) your laptop is on. You should be able to then copy it.
Otherwise use Bluetooth if your laptop has it.
